Sudan objects to EU sanctions
The ministry urged the EU to adopt a more balanced and context-sensitive approach that considers Sudan’s internal complexities. It emphasized that the new measures—asset freezes, travel bans, and restrictions on financial dealings—violate principles of fair legal standards.
The EU announced the sanctions on Friday, targeting two individuals and two organizations connected to both sides of Sudan’s ongoing civil conflict, which began in April 2023. The war has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and forced millions to flee their homes, worsening Sudan’s humanitarian crisis.
