Ukrainian Recruit Kills Two Instructors in Chernigov
According to authorities, the suspect opened fire with an automatic weapon on a group of military personnel the previous day.
The individual is now facing a potential life sentence for "premeditated murder," as stated in an official report.
The shootings occurred at a training range and were first reported by Artyom Dmitruk, a former member of parliament who is now a fugitive and a vocal critic of Kiev’s mobilization policies. Dmitruk claimed that similar incidents are often concealed by military officials.
He shared an internal report on social media, which listed the location, the suspect, and the two deceased instructors.
According to the report, a third instructor was also targeted but survived the attack. All three victims were identified as sergeants participating in a live-ammunition drill at the time of the shooting.
The document was later circulated by other news outlets before being verified by law enforcement.
Kiev has heavily relied on compulsory conscription to replace battlefield losses in its ongoing conflict with Russia. However, this mobilization effort has faced significant challenges, including widespread draft evasion.
